The Meditation Resolution

About

Hi! My name is Shobha. I am a 22 year old personal trainer and medical student. This blog was made to inspire myself and others to bring more mindfulness into our lives. You will find posts about fitness, science, spirituality, good books, nature, nutrition, medicine etc. I don't take credit for the pictures I post unless said otherwise. :)

Today is the first official day of the life cleansing that I wrote about yesterday (here is the post if you missed it). Today I started gathering some of my tools for the cleanse.

First item I got was a Shiva Rea Yoga DVD- I’ve done her workouts before and they are amazing. They range from fairly easy (with mostly meditation style yoga) to super hard (with 8 round of 12 push ups). I wanted to incorporated more yoga into my life for several reasons. All of them can be traced back to improving mindfulness and being more aware of my mind, body and spirit.

I’m also going to spend some time learning more about yoga. I know that there are many different types like Hatha, Ashtanga, Kundalani, Vinyasa and like a billion more. But I have no idea what that means so I’m gonna do some research on that and report back to you guys. lol

I also got some magazines like Psychology Today and Scientific American from the library.

Why, you ask?  Well, a part of my life cleanse involves improving my knowledge. I want to learn more about my interests. Plus, I feel like I’m a pretty shitty writer and I want to improve my writing. So I started off  somewhere easy: by reading magazines.

I just finished reading an article in the Psychology Today magazine about Dealing with Difficult people. It was an interesting read and I felt like I became a more knowledgeable person after reading it. That was a much better use of my time than sitting on facebook or watching tv (except House…I learn things in House lol)

Like Bill Nye the Science Guy said: “Knowledge is Power!”

…actually Sir Francis Bacon said that but whatever. See! You just learned something. lol

Those are the two main “updates” I made today. I think I will make a more clear post about what exactly my “life cleanse” is all about…Stay tuned. :)

Hope you guys are having a great Sunday or Monday (depending on where you live). :)

Namaste
